A major earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale jolted Sichuan Province in China on May 12th, 2008. Here is a live YouTube video shot by a college student in his dorm just 50 kilometers away from the earthquake zone at the time of the quake.

The 7.9-magnitude earthquake devastated a hilly region of small cities and towns in west China. The Chinese News Agency said 9,000 people died in Si Chuan province.
