Gunshots fired at Thai-Cambodia border

Fighting breaks out at the Thai-Cambodia border near Preah Vihear Temple as Thailand and Cambodia face off again!

The Nation reports that sound of several gunshots were heard near the disputed area at Preah Vihear area along the Thai-Cambodia border at about 2.45pm today.

One Khmer soldier was killed during the clashes.

The area is in the heart of border tension between Thailand and Cambodia which re-emerged after Cambodia's premier threatened to open war if Thai troops were not withdrawn from the area.

Both Thai and Cambodian troops were deployed along the border in Si Sa Ket following Hun Sen's threats. The Thai army vowed to retaliate if attacked.

It is still unclear who fired first shot.
Thai officials said that the shots were fired from the Khmer side.
Cambodian officials said that the shots were fired from the Thai side.
