Natalie Coughlin wins women's 100m Backstroke gold

Natalie Coughlin of the United States won gold in the women's 100 meter Backstroke final with a time of 58.96, beating world record holder Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe (59.19) who came in second, and compatriot Margaret Hoelzer (59.34) who finished third.

Coventry who had set a new world record in the 100 meter backstroke semifinals yesterday with a time of 58.77 missed the gold medal.
