Nishita Shah - Next Generation Billionaire?

Forbes Magazine had made a list of next generation billionaires and, besides the expected names like celebrity golfer Tiger Woods, they mentioned the glamorous Nishita Shah of Indian-origin, the managing director of Thailand's diversified GP Group. Nishita Shah, who is only 28 year old, lives in Thailand, and is currently single.

Nishita is the youngest person to make it to the Forbes List of "Thailand's 40 Richest". Forbes estimates her net worth at $375 million, and says that she is the richest woman in Thailand, and the 19th richest person in Thailand.

Thailand's former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra & family are ranked at No. 16 in the list with a net worth of $400 million.

Nishita, who's favorite color is hot pink, is the biggest shareholder and director in dry-bulk shipper Precious Shipping, founded by her father Kirit. Kirit founded the group in 1989 and took it public in 1993. Her family emigrated from India to Burma to Thailand many years ago.

A Boston University graduate, and a licensed pilot, Nishita also has a clothing company called Burn Baby and is launching her own fashion label, "Nsha" on three continents at the end of the year. "My dad said I could study anything I wanted as long as it was business," said the glamorous Nishita Shah.

Forbes writes that "After the 2004 tsunami she made a long-term commitment to a hard-hit fishing village, Baan Talay Nok, promising to help it recover and to cover the educational costs through university for children who lost one or both parents, roughly 20 in all."

Nishita Shah is also a supporter and fundraiser for Breast Cancer. She is the patron and fundraiser for the Queen Sirikit Center for Breast Cancer. According to Forbes she and her mother Anju have donated $160,000 to the center for education and research.

Noting that the world's current crop of billionaires have plenty of money but "not much youth", the American magazine said the average age of the 1,125 people on Forbes' list of the world's wealthiest is 61.

Other names in the list of next generation billionaires are Elon Musk, 37, who is the co-founder of online payment processor PayPal, Kenji Kasahara, 32, the creator of Japan's leading portal Mixi, venture capitalist Roelof Botha, 34, Chase Coleman, 33, who runs Tiger Global fund, Michael and Xochi Birch, the founders of social networking site Bebo and Hollywood actor Tyler Perry, 38.
